Rare Disease Day, marked globally on 28 February, is an important opportunity to raise awareness and show support for people living with a rare disease.
At EffRx, we recognize the profound impact that rare diseases have on individuals and their families. With over 300 million people affected worldwide, these conditions often require specialized care and long-term support, underscoring the need for continued research and improved access to care.¹ In Switzerland alone, approximately 580’000 people are living with a rare disease. Around 6’000 new diagnoses are made each year, and the majority of those affected are children.²
To mark Rare Disease Day, EffRx employees made personal donations to support the patient organization SHG Wegweiser – Schweizer Selbsthilfegruppe für Krankheiten der Hypophyse und/oder Nebennieren.³ The organization assists individuals across Switzerland living with pituitary and adrenal gland conditions by providing a nationwide, non-profit support network offering shared experience, emotional support, and accessible disease-specific information for patients and their families.
Through this internal fundraising initiative, EffRx is proud to contribute to a community that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.
